Wild Things in My Mountain Garden

If you love gardening, you know it comes with hard work, many surprises, and great satisfaction. We were fortunate enough to build a home in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs. Over twenty years, I transformed the barren mountain space around our home into a part tamed and part wild garden. I learned to respect the wildlife: bears, mountain lions, snakes and oh, yes deer; they were there before us and still create the beauty I desired. I included the plants that work for a forest garden, the ones deer will not eat. The adventure of building a pond with my family and their contributions to my garden. The conquest over the wild things and the confessions made to them. The wonderful memories and joy it all brought.
